Active Documents Supporting Teamwork in a Ubiquitous Computing Environment

We present the notion of Active Documents as an approach for providing support for teamwork in ubiquitous computing environments. The main idea is that the document should actively participate in the work, and thereby be able to provide different kind of services. We present an architecture that consists of a Jinibased mobile agent platform and a context information infrastructure where Active Documents utilise context information and distributed resources to achieve their goals. We also present a prototype based on this architecture that has been implemented and that is currently being tested in a meeting scenario. Some initial results from these tests are discussed.
